Gross Motor Exercise 15 –  Slow and Steady wins the Race

You’ll need per child:

  • 1 Soccer Ball
  • 1 rope or chalk line

Set the Scene

Children are too to imagine they are a giant turtle

Set Up 

In chalk or using masking tape make parallel lines on the ground 5 meters in length

How it works

Children have to crawl on their hands and feet (not on their knees), they have to control the ball along the line using their hands. The goal is to push the ball without stopping and be the last person to finish.

Simple Steps

  1. Set up the lines
  2. One child per line with a ball each
  3. Children are encouraged to crawl on their hands and feet and push the ball along the line without the ball stopping
  4. The slowest person wins
